Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the store,
Not a customer was stirring, not even the door.
The sofas were staged in the showroom just right,
Ready for families to gather each night.
The mattresses rested all snug in a row,
Dreaming of sleepers they soon would bestow.
Headboards and dressers stood polished with pride,

The mom and pop owners had closed up with cheer,
Thankful for neighbors who’d shopped there all year.
With snow on the sidewalks and stars shining bright,
The storefront stood cozy and warm through the night.
When out in the lot there arose such a clatter,
What could it be—why, it surely must matter!
A sleigh full of savings, a jolly old laugh,
Santa himself checking prices in half!
He bounced on a sofa, he tested a bed,

He sprang to his sleigh as the snow sparkled white,
Calling out warmly as he took to the night:
